Long Range Model S now accelerates to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 3.7 seconds
Thanks to the new design of the Tesla motor was able to extend the range of mileage and improve the dynamic characteristics of its popular models – the Model S sedan and crossover Model X.
The Model S sedan can now drive on a single charge of 595 kilometers, 56 kilometers more than before. As for the Model X crossover, its distance per charge increased by 48 kilometers to 523. Productive Performance version of Model S and Model X Performance were also “dalnoboynie” – 555 and 490 kilometers respectively.
Maintaining the same 100 kWh battery, the Tesla engineers were able to optimize the power plant and power electronics, to improve the cooling, lubrication, bearings and gear design.
This has led to the increase of efficiency of use of energy during acceleration, and during her recuperation when braking.
Besides saving energy, advanced electric motors provide more power and torque, and though Tesla has not announced a specific data, but noted that the Long Range Model S now accelerates to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 3.7 seconds, which is 0.4 seconds faster than the previous version.
As for the Model X, its acceleration time to 60 mph takes 4.4 seconds.
