“The regions must be free hand”
Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Medvedev said that the tariffs for waste disposal will be reduced. The Prime Minister has already signed the corresponding resolution, what was announced today at a meeting with participants of all-Russian ecological forum “United Russia” “Pure country”.
“The decision (signed by Medvedev — approx. ed.) said on the possible revision of tariff for municipal solid waste management. Needed to be reduced due to the importation into temporary objects. <…> It is important to find the balance [of tariffs], which will be acceptable to all,” said Medvedev, noting that the regulatory framework for this should be further improved.
According to the head of the Cabinet, the regions “should be a free hand” in determining the tariffs for disposal of municipal solid wastes. Tariff should be determined taking into account regional peculiarities, Medvedev said. “[Regions] should do, to make decisions,” — said the Prime Minister.
In the text of the resolution States that “the subjects of the Russian Federation recommended in three months to review the approved tariffs taking into account the decisions taken”. “Decisions are aimed at reducing fees for the export of MSW, which is especially important in those regions where a significant part of the payment amount to the expenses for transportation of MSW,” — said on the government website.
