Four-time Olympic champion in biathlon Alexander Tikhonov has commented on reports that ex-biathlete Anton Shipulin can become a Deputy of the state Duma. He advised Shipulin instead to go to work “in the mine”.
Tikhonov noted that training and preparation Shipulin had spent a lot of money. “Don’t like, can’t — go rest, take a shovel and in the mine to the government in vain did not spend the money on you,” said the legendary biathlete, quoted in Sport24. According to Tikhonov, the athletes believe the policy the simplest thing, and therefore give her their preference after the end of a professional career. “Everywhere we have to work, they sit there, even if one of them came to the podium,” said the Olympic champion. While coaches most of these athletes do not want to work.
Today the Governor of Sverdlovsk region Yevgeny Kuyvashev said that he had discussed with Shipulin possibility of election as a Deputy in the state Duma. The athlete was asked to wait for the official statements about it.
